Come join me for the beginning of a series of hikes on the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin. What is the Ice Age Trail: The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a 2,800 mile footpath that highlights these landscape features as it travels through some of the state’s most beautiful natural areas. The Trail is entirely within Wisconsin and is one of only eleven National Scenic Trails in the US. But the Ice Age Trail is more than a path through the woods. It is a place for mental and physical rejuvenation, a place to unwind after a hard day and enjoy the landscape of Wisconsin. More than 2.3 million people use the Ice Age Trail each year to hike and snowshoe, to backpack, to disconnect and reconnect. https://www.iceagetrail.org/explore/explore-the-trail/ice-age-trail/ https://www.iceagetrail.org https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/df81ecf850ec44e199e031d880d278e9/ What is this particular section? The CROSS PLAINS SEGMENT is a total of 9 miles, we will be a hiking a portion of this segment. This segment highlights the woods and restored prairies of the Ice Age Trail Alliance’s Anderson Preserve, residential streets in the Village of Cross Plains, the Ice Age Trail Alliance headquarters, and the surprisingly remote-feeling bluffs and woodlands north of town. At the edge of Cross Plains, the segment continues along a connecting route toward Madison. At Old Sauk Pass Road, you‘ll encounter the National Park Service Cross Plains Interpretive site, which highlights a world-renowned example of the interface of glaciated and unglaciated terrain. https://www.iceagetrail.org/wp-content/uploads/CrossPlains_Itinerary_21_withMaps.pdf Questions, contact me. Please contact me if you are coming with remote start of hike and to coordinate meet up and plans for the hike. Meet up at: Ice Age Trail Alliance Headquarters 2110 Main Street Cross Plains, WI 53528

Come join us for Wanderlust Wednesday. This is a weekly adventurous ride leaving from Elmhurst via various trails and Rail-to-Trails (including but not limited to the Salt Creek Trail, Prairie Path, Great Western Trail, Fullersburg Woods, etc..). Please bring a bike suitable for riding various mixed terrain and trails in the area and one that you feel comfortable riding in snow/wet conditions. As a group, we can discuss where we would like to head each week and then explore that area. There can be a quick rest stop at midpoint for bathroom (5-10 minutes tops) if needed, depending on the needs of the group. Please bring both front and rear lights and wear reflective gear. For those interested, post ride food/drink at either Bottle Theory or Phase Three on Spring Road in Elmhurst at 7:30 pm. You don‘t have to ride to come and join us, anyone welcome. Start/finish at Pioneer Park, parking is at the end of Prairie Path Lane, 1 block east of S Mitchell Avenue.
