This is a two day ride from Chicago‘s Millennium Park mostly along the Lake Michigan shoreline to New Buffalo MI with an overnight stay at Indiana Dunes State Park or a local hotel. The first day‘s ride is 61 miles and the second is 48. This is a beautiful and well supported ride with plenty of SAG stops along the way. The money raised from this ride is donated to Arts and Fitness For Kids at Maywood Fine Arts. The event registration has opened up today and is limited to 600 riders so sign up soon if you want to come with. Lombard: Lombard Commons Park in the parking lot off of Grace St

We will start our adventure from Lombard Commons and head west on the Great Western Trail for 2 hours before turning back to the start. We will take a 15 minute break at the halfway point to refuel. Please bring bike appropriate for the Great Western Trail crushed limestone as this will be the majority of the route.
When we return, there will be the 2nd annual Multicultural Art Fair sponsored by Building Love Amongst Cultures (BLAC) from 12-3:00 pm at the Sheldon Peck Homestead. You can stay to enjoy music, fellowship, community at this event and meet Kaveria Lezza, founder of BLAC. The 2nd annual Multicultural Art Fair will feature artwork from various cultures, live performances, and cultural cuisine. The event aims to promote diversity and inclusivity in the community.
If you are not interested in riding, come and meet and mingle at the festival. We should be there around 12:30 pm.

The hunt is on! Come join us as we hunt down 20+ cicadas on homes in parks and the library. This will be an easy ride with lots of stops along the way. The ride to and from Berwyn will be on paths and side streets. If there is interest we will make a lunch stop at the end of the cicada hunt before returning to Villa Park.

Come and join Pussanee and me for a nice relaxed trail ride to Embers Tap House, located in Lockport, IL. We will have lunch and a fine craft beer. Slower riders and electric bikes are most welcome. The ride is all on paved and limestone trails. As always on these bike and brew rides, the first beer for riders is on us. Please Park in far west end of the parking lot, drive until you can’t go any farther. Lot is .8 of a mile deep. Back by 2:30PM, unless we’re not.

2024 marks the 21st Horribly Hilly Hundreds. Commonly referred to as the "Suffer fest of the Year" and "The Toughest One-Day Challenge Ride in the Midwest" is not to be missed by serious riders anywhere.
Since 2003, Horribly Hilly participants have enjoyed a day of riding that results in an awe-inspiring accumulation of 10,000 feet of elevation gain in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin. Growing in popularity each year, the Horribly Hilly registration has moved to an annual lottery system to accommodate the swelling number of interested riders. A second and third route option beyond the original course were added in 2005 and 2011. How hard do you want to push it? Choose between the 100K, 150K, and 200K routes. The day is capped with a meal featuring quality local food and beer.
Approximately 1,200 riders test their mettle on southwestern Wisconsin‘s scenic byways each year in the Horribly Hilly. Join the ranks of an inspired community of riders for the premier cycling event in the Badger State and beyond.
Start Times: It is essential that you do not start early, this is a safety hazard and forbidden by local authorities.

Three distance options for you to select (15-30-64 miles) on this out-back route leaving from Lombard to downtown Algonquin on various Rails-to-Trails which include the Great Western Trail, Fox River Trail and Prairie Trail.
A brief stop (15 minutes) in downtown Algonquin for those doing the full distance before returning the same route. You select your distance and do your turn around to head back to the start, if you are not doing the full 64 miles. This is not paved, mixed terrain (limestone gravel) so bring whatever bike you feel most comfortable on on this terrain. And you can meet me on the route, if you are interested too to share some miles with me for however long you would like to ride. Just ride and keep moving is my motto!

Want an easy 3 trail ride? Well, here it is. We will ride on the Tinley Creek Trail, The George Dunne Golf Course Loop and Cal Sag Trail to Nicks BBQ for a Corn Dog and a coke. (Full menu available) All Paved so any bike will do, we will be on our road tandem. The Tinley Creek Trail goes through beautiful forests along with a series of small lakes and beautiful prairie grassland. Along the way you will see many different species of birds, including sparrows and orioles, flying back and forth across the trail. Slower Riders and electric bikes are most welcome. The weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and hot temperatures with a high of 94F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Back by 1:30pm, unless we are not.

Come join us for a Hump Day No-Hustle ride in Naperville with not a lot of Hustle!! This is a "No Drop" "Social Ride". The ride will be a little different than the Hump Day Hustle leaving out of Villa Park since the main break will be at the end of the ride and the mileage is a little less.
We will leave from Pioneer Park, (where there is parking and restroom facilities), take the river path through Knoch Knoll, (restroom break if needed), to Whalen Lake and around, (again restroom break if needed), and then head back the way we came to Pioneer Park for some fellowship at the picnic tables at the end of the ride. Please feel free to bring the beverage or snack of your choice. I have taken this route on several occasions but will be making slight changes throughout the rest of the year to accommodate as many riders as possible. Also, the days are getting shorter so having lights over the next couple of weeks will become mandatory.

This is a highly social, evening ride that has been a Spring, Summer and Fall tradition since August, 2015, always rolling at the speed-of-fun. :-)
We ride as a team and enthusiastically encourage communication, conversation and laughter, as long as riders prescribe to safe practices such as: communicating about obstacles; and maintaining gaps that are appropriate for the speed, terrain and weather conditions.
Your bike must have headlights and tail lights. Avoid using retina-burning, overly-bright and strobing lights since we ride trails as a tight pack and are usually separated from car and truck traffic. We try to courteously douse headlights when passing pedestrians and fellow riders as we ride into growing darkness.
This ride is often best suited for mountain or fat-tire bikes when riding our crushed limestone routes, but also, quite often the weather and trail conditions make this event viable for most any type of bike.
No rider will ever be left behind. We have several bona fide EBC Ride Leaders attending this ride for extra safety. Having said that, please don‘t show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road; ...and riding a heavy, fat or mountain bike requires yet additional effort.

We will be riding the Mesabi Trail from Grand Rapids MN to Ely MN.
over three days with two driving days. This is self-contained hotel to hotel ride. The trail is paved with some wide shoulder road plus some country road riding.The trail will cut through the forests of northeast Minnesota, our adventure will take us past lakes, creeks and ponds, by vast red pits of old iron ore mines now filled with emerald green water. Passing through 28 communities, stop in at a local attraction to experience the history of the area, learn about our mining and logging legacies, enjoy the local cuisine…try a sarma, a pasty or some potica. See daily ride postings to know where to book your hotels and shuttle ride for return to your car. Meals are on our own.

You can return to your car in Grand Rapids by making your shuttle reservation (last pickup is about 3pm) or spend the night in Ely and return by shuttle the next day. We will be riding the Mesabi Trail from Grand Rapids MN to Ely MN.
over three days with two driving days. This is self-contained hotel to hotel ride. The trail is paved with some wide shoulder road plus some country road riding.The trail will cut through the forests of northeast Minnesota, our adventure will take us past lakes, creeks and ponds, by vast red pits of old iron ore mines now filled with emerald green water. Passing through 28 communities, stop in at a local attraction to experience the history of the area, learn about our mining and logging legacies, enjoy the local cuisine…try a sarma, a pasty or some potica. This is a highly social, evening ride that has been a Spring, Summer and Fall tradition since August, 2015, always rolling at the speed-of-fun. :-)
We ride as a team and enthusiastically encourage communication, conversation and laughter, as long as riders prescribe to safe practices such as: communicating about obstacles; and maintaining gaps that are appropriate for the speed, terrain and weather conditions.
Your bike must have headlights and tail lights. Avoid using retina-burning, overly-bright and strobing lights since we ride trails as a tight pack and are usually separated from car and truck traffic. We try to courteously douse headlights when passing pedestrians and fellow riders as we ride into growing darkness.
This ride is often best suited for mountain or fat-tire bikes when riding our crushed limestone routes, but also, quite often the weather and trail conditions make this event viable for most any type of bike.
No rider will ever be left behind. We have several bona fide EBC Ride Leaders attending this ride for extra safety. Having said that, please don‘t show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road; ...and riding a heavy, fat or mountain bike requires yet additional effort.

This is a tempo ride with a few optional sprints, and 1-2 very small "climbs". Expect 2+ hrs road and bike path ride with rotating pacelines, and NO mid-ride stop. Re-group points after sprints/climbs and before any major turns.
Sunset is at 8:30pm. Lights are not required but highly encouraged.

Did you qualify for a mileage award in 2023? Finally getting that ride leader jersey you worked so hard for? Just want to socialize with a bunch of other people that also enjoy riding bikes? Please join us on Thursday, June 27th at 7:00pm at the Community Bank of Elmhurst on Butterfield Road for an evening of food and fun.
Prior to the event, we will be scheduling rides of various speeds and distances returning to the bank in time for the festivities. If you are a ride leader that would like to schedule a ride or hike, we encourage you to do so, as various trails and road routes are in close proximity.
After riders return, we will socialize over pizza, salad, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages, before moving into a presentation of awards for the 2023 riding season. If you have event specific awards that you would like to have presented that evening, please contact me so we can make that happen!

Donations of desserts are welcome! Rumor has it the club president will ride anywhere for sweets...

Join us for our third triple B or cloverleaf century ride out of Madison Meadows. We will first do the early BUSSE route and then meet up with Jason‘s by BLUE skies ride (assuming he can post) and finish with the early BIRD route as needed to get to 100 miles. BOB will be co-leading with his BESTIE (me, I needed a B word :)). I will bring crumb cake and cookies for our breaks, and we will go to BILLY BRICKS pizza in Lombard on St. Charles after the ride for those who have time.
Last July when we did this ride, we averaged 16.5 MPH so will be aiming for around then as well. Hopefully, we will get a little support when we join the blue skies ride. Feel free to join for 1, 2 or all 3 legs of this ride.
Please let me know no later (but hopefully sooner) than the night before if you are planning to join.

Double century ride from Naperville to Dixon, IL and back. Westbound route passes through Batavia, Sycamore, and Oregon. Eastbound return passes through Hinckley, Plano, and Yorkville. Most of the route is on low-traffic and scenic IL roads. You should be able to ride long distances with minimal stops for food / water. Goal is to finish by sundown but bring lights / reflective gear just in case. Daylight finish possible with 16mph average and <= 3 hours for stops. Contact ride leader if you are interested in this ride.

We will ride at their speed for 25 miles, then turn around and ride back at 14-16 mph. It is amazing to ride in this peloton starting at 5 AM. You really need to experience this. We will stop at McDonalds in Batavia for an Egg McMuffin and coffee on the way back.

One of my favorite Century Road Rides - The Holland Hundred is a Saturday ride through local towns near Lake Michigan with distance options of: 18, 36, 67 and 100 miles. It has Moderate terrain with rolling short steep hills or moderate climbs. Choose your own distance and speed. I plan on riding the 100 mile ride at a moderate pace depending who attends. The only organized ride I can think of that offer a pancake breakfast on the route.
All proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations managed by Events for Good such as JDRF and Breast Cancer..
Riders may take the course at 7:00am. If you are riding the 100 mile course you are highly encouraged to be on course no later than 8:00am. Support for routes will begin to withdraw in the mid afternoon with all support vehicles off the road by 5:00pm. SAG will only transport riders with mechanical issues to the next rest stop.
Your registration fee covers all food (including a pancake breakfast!) and rest stops, a post-ride picnic at the start/finish, tech support at rest stops, SAG for emergencies and a generous donation to our charities

Start at the Blue Gate Hotel in Shipshewana, IN. We will ride Pumpkinvine Trail from Shipshewana to Goshen and back. We will find a place to eat along the way. This is the actual ride. We will meet at Lakeland High School which is the start location at 7:30 a.m. EASTERN TIME so we can all start together. There are 5 different mile options: 22, 36, 50, 64, and 100. You can choose to do any of them just make sure you let me know what your end mileage for the day is. There are 5 different mile options: 23, 29, 39, and 50. You can choose to do any of them just make sure you let me know what your end mileage for the day is. Come and help George celebrate his 65th birthday. No gifts please, your presence is my gift. This will be EBC Pastorino Pool Party number 49 dating back to 2006. We will have easy and moderate MTB rides and Fast and Slower Road/Trail rides to appeal to a wide range of club members. Ron Richards will lead a 55 mile Fast Road ride, Ed Gin will lead a 30-40 mile slower road/trail ride, Pravin Patel will lead an intermediate MTB ride, George and Consigliere Baltimore Ortega will lead an easier MTB ride that Pussanee will sweep. We will have a variety of really good food catered from Spring Forest. Lunch will be followed by a cool off swim in the Pastorino pool, swim suit required. Feel free to bring soft drinks, adult beverages and a side dish to share if you like. Kids and non-riding spouses are encouraged to attend the Party. These parties are also a great way for new members to meet other club members, so come on out, don’t be shy. Some people swim and some people don’t, it’s not a requirement! Lunch from Spring Forest is on the Pastorinos and Ed Gin will have his famous Korean Kalbi (Galbi) Chicken. This event is a ton of fun and has something for everyone. If you can’t make the ride, come to the Picnic/Swim/Food/Beer/Laughter event after, just plan to arrive after 1:15pm. All rides will depart at 9am, try to arrive my 8:30 am and as it is a bit chaotic getting the 4 rides organized and there is a ton of pre-ride socializing. Please register (it’s simple) so we can get a headcount for food.

Avoid using retina-burning, overly-bright and strobing lights since we ride trails as a tight pack and are usually separated from car and truck traffic. We try to courteously douse headlights when passing pedestrians and fellow riders as we ride into growing darkness.
This ride is often best suited for mountain or fat-tire bikes when riding our crushed limestone routes, but also, quite often the weather and trail conditions make this event viable for most any type of bike.
No rider will ever be left behind. We have several bona fide EBC Ride Leaders attending this ride for extra safety. Having said that, please don‘t show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road; ...and riding a heavy, fat or mountain bike requires yet additional effort.

This is a highly social, evening ride that has been a Spring, Summer and Fall tradition since August, 2015, always rolling at the speed-of-fun. :-)
We ride as a team and enthusiastically encourage communication, conversation and laughter, as long as riders prescribe to safe practices such as: communicating about obstacles; and maintaining gaps that are appropriate for the speed, terrain and weather conditions.
Your bike must have headlights and tail lights. Avoid using retina-burning, overly-bright and strobing lights since we ride trails as a tight pack and are usually separated from car and truck traffic. We try to courteously douse headlights when passing pedestrians and fellow riders as we ride into growing darkness.
This ride is often best suited for mountain or fat-tire bikes when riding our crushed limestone routes, but also, quite often the weather and trail conditions make this event viable for most any type of bike.
No rider will ever be left behind. We have several bona fide EBC Ride Leaders attending this ride for extra safety. Having said that, please don‘t show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road; ...and riding a heavy, fat or mountain bike requires yet additional effort.

This is the second outing as part of the Randonneurs USA Rouleur Series, a 120k team DART populaire. MUST be a member of Randonneurs USA and sign up via Driftless Randonneurs website and sign a waiver. Registration closes 24 hours before the start of the ride.

DETAILS: We’ll be doing a Dart Populaire Team Event for this ride. This is a ride with a minimum of 120 Km that must be completed in 8 hours. Briefly, the rules are as follows:
Teams consisting of minimum of 3 and no more than 5 riders.
Minimum distance of 120 Km.
A minimum of 25 Km must be ridden in the last 2 hours. This must be verified by a timed and dated receipt.
Three team members must finish together in order to receive credit for the ride.
Any team members not finishing with the rest of the team will not receive credit for the ride.

Dewey Cannon Bicycle Museum

We will meet at 12:00 pm EASTERN TIME at the Dewey Cannon Bicycle Museum. We will ride the back roads for about 32 miles. Afterwards we will enjoy the ice cream social which is part of the Apple Cider Century ride. You will need to register for the Sunday ride in order to participate in the ice cream social. Please contact me so I know who will be joining this Saturday ride.

You may choose the flat 15/25-mile routes or the rolling hills of the 50/75-mile routes, if you’re not ready for a Century, at a speed you are comfortable with.
