*** Tonight, we will take to the backstreets and have a shortened ride. ***
This is an highly social, evening ride that has been a Spring, Summer and Fall tradition since August, 2015. Always rolling at the speed-of-fun.
We ride as a team and enthusiastically encourage communication, conversation and laughter, as long as riders prescribe to safe practices such as: communicating about obstacles; maintaining gaps that are appropriate for the speed, terrain and weather conditions, etc.
You must have a bike that is trail-ready and has headlights and tail lights. Avoid using retina-burning tail lights, and we try to douse headlights when passing pedestrians and other riders as we ride into growing darkness. We suggest a mountain or fat-tire bike, or at least some wide tires. i.e. There may be times on the damp, crushed limestone trails when a slim-tire road bike will be very difficult to ride.
No rider will ever be left behind. Having said that, please don't show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road, using a road bike. Riding a heavy, fat bike or mountain bike requires yet additional effort.
Look for route information on our e-mail list server each week before this ride.
