Grand Canyon Rim to Rim hike / 24 Miles @ 2-3 MPH / Jose Sosa

Want to check the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim hike off your Bucket List. Hike the majestic rim to rim from North Kaibab Trail on the North Rim to the Bright Angel Trail on the South Rim. It will be a comfortable, picturesque hike down to historic Phantom Ranch for lunch, and then he final push. It is not a race, and no one will be left behind. Must reserve early (now). Contact me directly for information. Jose Sosa: 630 362-8723 Additional information: This is an strenuous event, and if you are not physically and mentally prepared for his hike do take a pass. It is a 24 mile hike across rugged terrain in the Grand Canyon National Park. You will descend 14.3 miles/6000 feet to the bottom (Phantom Ranch), then climb 9.6 miles/4500 feet to the South Rim. The hike across the Grand Canyon takes an average of 10.5 hours. There are many web sites that describe the rim to rim hike and Grand Canyon National Park. See for additional information. I will be leading several (weekly) training sessions at Swallow Cliff-North near Palos Park starting in the spring. It will include a combination of stairs and hiking. Hiking boots and Ruck (back pack) are recommended. Water and nourishment is required. Directions and information about Swallow Cliff can be found at Training on your own during the week is essential, whether it includes biking, hiking (walking), running, swimming, weight training, etc. is up to you. If I feel that you did not train properly I will kindly recommend that you excuse yourself from this hike. Keep in mind that rescues are very expensive, and deaths in the canyon can happen to those who are not properly trained. Equipment needed for the hike should fit in a medium size back pack. I will go over essential equipment as we train. Again, contact me directly for additional information, and if you have any questions. Jose' A Sosa: 630 362-8723
