About this event
Consider joining me for a bike-packing trip to Lake Geneva. We will ride our bikes carrying our gear and food for an overnight stay at the Big Foot Beach State Park and return to Elmhurst the following day. The campsite reservation is required in advance. The riders who prefer to stay in a hotel, several hotels are available nearby. We will mostly ride limestone scree as well as paved trails except the last ten miles of the paved roads. There are options for riders to join the ride either from Elgin or Crystal Lake for 48 or 32 miles ride.
The overnight parking is available at 226 N Grove Avenue in Elgin for a 48 mile ride. Park your car in the parking lot and walk your bike to the Fox River Trail at the south end of the parking lot to meet up with the main group at around 9:15AM. We will take a lunch break at the Panera Bread in Crystal Lake around 11:30 to 12:00PM noon.
We will ride at a modest pace of 10-12 mph with several breaks along the route. Any type of bike, a trail or a mountain or a fat tire bike, with at least 28mm tires should be fine. Please, consider bringing snacks, water, and made to eat breakfast for camping. Please contact me for more information for camp reservations or hotel lodging. We will have a group dinner in a restaurant after setting up our tents. We will ride as a group and no one will be left behind.
