*** I have added the option of an 8am start for those that want to ride an extra hour before we are back for the normal start at 9 am. ***
This is absolutely one of the EBC historic, signature rides. Authored by Ride Leader, Isaac Samayoa, years ago, it is a weekly tradition of exertion and camaraderie. There is even free, on-the-fly training in group riding as might be seen on other EBC classics.
We will start in Lombard from the traditional location, and proceed to the Panera Bread in St. Charles by way of the Munger loop. I have called the Panera, who has maintained curbside service throughout the pandemic, and they now have their bathrooms open. We may only allow 10 of our group at a time in the building for either bathrooms or food. If we space ourselves apart, the numbers will probably make no difference.
This is a ride for the faster road riders. Although we will take care of all riders who join, please make sure that you are up to a consistent pace of 17 or 18 mph, and much faster in certain parts.
For this week, take heat precautions. The Panera will have water (Yay!).
Typically this ride generally breaks into a very fast 20+ mph "A" group and an 18 mph "B" group.
If you want to do this route and distance, but are not at this level of speed, there is usually what I call a "C" group that rides this same route at the same time. They will have a ride listed on our calendar. Note that the "C" group ride is nothing to sneeze at either and will be very taxing in the forecast heat.
If you are up to all of this, then this is a wonderfully varied course that will give you enough of a workout to keep you relaxed during the fireworks for Independence Day. See you there.
