Trail Ride for New Beginnings / 18-26 mi @ 10-12 mph / John Riordan

Happy New Year!
We will be riding no matter what the weather holds. Expect snow and possibly some ice on the paths. The day will become sunny and warm up as the ride continues. I will be riding studded fat tires. The studs might be overkill, but I am not certain.
We will depart the Villa Park Depot at 9am and head west on the IL Prairie Path and meet a group from the Elgin area at our usual break spot in downtown Wheaton. We will enjoy and extended break and celebration there (8 miles out from the start) and then continue west (not toward home). Our break will be before the halfway point of the ride. We will probably stop again at Klein Creek, but certainly find our way to the Great Western Trail in some fashion.
On the way west, we will ride with the other bicyclists, converse, and take our time. They will split off from us when we turn back home. Depending the EBC members that show up, we might ride further or shorter for our overall outing distance.
Bring snacks and/or money (for Wheaton).

As usual, the EBC kicks off the calendar year immediately with a few great choices for athletic and social involvement right off the bat. Let this be the year of no excuses, as we ride again at the speed of fun. (No one dropped.)
See you on the road,
~ John Riordan
