Day 2: Walk from Settignano to Fiesole delightful trails through an idyllic Tuscan landscape of cypress trees, olive groves, Renaissance villas and with panoramic views over the city of Florence below. Stroll through the charming 7th century town of Fiesole and tour its Etruscan ruins, Roman amphitheatre and Franciscan monastery.

Wednesday will be the 23rd anniversary of the terrorists‘ attacks. We will honor the memory of those who died one day early. We will ride through Woodridge and Downers Grove to the September 11th Memorial at 7550 Lyman Ave, Darien, IL 60561 for a moment of silence. Then continue through south Darian to Clarendon Hills for a coffee break at Starbucks in downtown Hinsdale. We will return vis Norfolk Avenue through Clarendon Hills and Grant Street through Downers Grove.

Day 3: A choice of walks in Greve in Chianti A circular walk starting from the attractive main square of Greve in Chianti, through the picture-perfect Chianti Classico area and passing by the Villa Calcinaia and numerous vineyards with “aziende agricole” (farms) where the prestigious Chianti wine is produced.

Join us for a 25-35 mile Road Ride ride at 14-16+ MPH with a few sprints thrown in. The route will be announced on the list server the day before the ride. Return will be after dark - Bright Front & Rear lights are required! Bright clothing is recommended. Rain Will Cancel - Check the list server!

Starts like the Lisle Early Bird but goes further west in Naperville then south to Knock Knolls park, along the DuPage river trail to Whalon Lake, up THE HILL to cross Boughton road, east on Lee to Pinecrest and then finds a way back to the start. This ride follows the Lisle Early Bird after it finishes.

BRING REAL ID or Passport and Arb Pass!!!!!! Route is one of several variations all headed west to open, long-stretch, low traffic runs. Mid ride sustenance/ social break. This is a PACELINE road ride at 17mph (level/windless running speed. NOT average). If you have your reservations about pacelines, your welcome to ride off the front or back. NO DROP, NO worries. no drama, Let‘s roll!

Day 4: Panzano loop walk A beautiful looped walk beginning in the village of Panzano. Take some time to explore the quaint medieval streets of this historic town before beginning your walk through the surrounding hills. This classic Chianti trail alternates forests with vineyards, with the added opportunity to discover ancient Roman farmsteads as you go.

Come join us for a Hump Day Hustle ride in Naperville with not a lot of Hustle!! This is a "No Drop" "Social Ride". The ride will be a little different than the Hump Day Hustle leaving out of Villa Park since the main break will be at the end of the ride and the mileage is a little less. We will leave from Pioneer Park, (where there is parking and restroom facilities), take the river path through Knoch Knoll, (restroom break if needed), to Whalen Lake and around, (again restroom break if needed), and then head back the way we came to Pioneer Park for some fellowship at the picnic tables at the end of the ride. Please feel free to bring the beverage or snack of your choice. I have taken this route on several occasions but will be making slight changes throughout the rest of the year to accommodate as many riders as possible. Also, the days are getting shorter so having lights over the next couple of weeks will become mandatory.

This is a highly social, evening ride that has been a Spring, Summer and Fall tradition since August, 2015, always rolling at the speed-of-fun. :-) We ride as a team and enthusiastically encourage communication, conversation and laughter, as long as riders prescribe to safe practices such as: communicating about obstacles; and maintaining gaps that are appropriate for the speed, terrain and weather conditions. Your bike must have headlights and tail lights. Avoid using retina-burning, overly-bright and strobing lights since we ride trails as a tight pack and are usually separated from car and truck traffic. We try to courteously douse headlights when passing pedestrians and fellow riders as we ride into growing darkness. This ride is often best suited for mountain or fat-tire bikes when riding our crushed limestone routes, but also, quite often the weather and trail conditions make this event viable for most any type of bike. No rider will ever be left behind. We have several bona fide EBC Ride Leaders attending this ride for extra safety. Having said that, please don‘t show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road; ...and riding a heavy, fat or mountain bike requires yet additional effort. Our routes vary from one week to the next. Day 5: Monte San Michele to Radda in Chianti After breakfast, a short car transfer takes you to the highest of the Chianti hills, Monte San Michele. From Badiaccia you descend through a forested valley of century old chestnut trees and continue towards the stunning medieval hamlet of Volpaia, situated amongst vineyards and castles. Stop in for a glass of red at a fine Enoteca (wine shop), before continuing on to the medieval walled town of Radda in Chianti.

Join me for a road ride from Lombard to St. Charles, which will feature a newly-resurfaced Crescent Boulevard for your sprinting pleasure. Our midpoint rest stop will be at Panera in St. Charles. I expect to maintain the upper end of the posted rolling speed, with optional sprints. I expect to do the Munger Loop (Powis->Stearns->Munger->Smith), so anticipate total mileage closer to 50 miles. Others are always free to bypass or shorten the loop. We will face some hills, rollers, and open road with narrow shoulders, so a road bike and some road riding experience is highly recommended. Day 6: Radda in Chianti circular walk Begin the day with a scenic walk around the historic and pretty centre of Radda in Chianti. Wander among the narrow alleyways and take in the evocative walled gardens. As you head out of town through the vineyard covered slopes stop to treat yourself to a glass of Chianti Gallo Nero at one of the celebrated local vineyards.

Day 7: Travel to Siena After breakfast a prearranged private transfer takes you to your final destination, the historic city of Siena. One of Europe’s great medieval cities, Siena is famous for its biannual “Palio” horse race, held in the most beautiful shell-shaped square in Europe: The Piazza del Campo. Wander the narrow streets and immerse yourself in the history of this perfectly preserved jewel of Italy.

A half-century ride through Chicago and near north suburbs to the original Hackney’s location on Harms Road in Glenview. The route features a mix of neighborhoods, city streets and paved trails. One stop each way in addition to lunch. Hackney’s is a north suburb institution. This is the original location opened in 1939 featuring great food and outdoor dining next to Harms Woods along the North Branch Bike Trail. Entrees range from $14 to $20. Expect to be back in Elmhurst around 3:30 PM. I will stick with the advertised 14-16 MPH pace. This is a conversation-paced ride, not a fast ride!

Welcome to the MSOE Century! This is a route that gives a taste of almost everything the state of Wisconsin has to offer- Milwuakee City riding, Suburban paved Rail-to-Trails, mile long false flats, small lake towns, farm fields, and a few rated climbs! This ride is usually one of the MSOE Rider‘s first century, so you get support a young cyclist on their cycling journey! The Current route is version "‘24E". We will meet at 1:00 pm EASTERN TIME (12:00 pm Central time) at the Dewey Cannon Bicycle Museum. We will ride the back roads for about 32 miles. Afterwards we will enjoy the ice cream social which is part of the Apple Cider Century ride. You will need to register for the Sunday ride in order to participate in the ice cream social.

Ride time is sunrise so I will be at the start then for you to sign the ride sheet. If I miss you at the start, please text me with your milage at the end of the ride. You may choose the flat 15/25-mile routes or the rolling hills of the 50/75-mile routes, if you’re not ready for a Century, at a speed you are comfortable with. Join us for our 2nd triple B or cloverleaf century ride of the year out of Madison Meadows. Given it will be dark I‘m still figuring out the order of the ride but some combo of Busse woods, Blue Skies and Elmhurst Early bird to get 100 miles. I would like to avoid doing Busse in the dark. I will bring crumb cake and cookies for our breaks, and we will go to BILLY BRICKS pizza in Lombard on St. Charles after the ride for those who have time. In June when we did this ride, we averaged 17.3 MPH so will be aiming for around then as well (or higher :)). Hopefully, we will get a little support when we join the blue skies ride. Rent Bikes and get shuttled up to top of Whitetop Mountain to ride down the Virginia Creeper trail 17 miles.

Hike the entire Grayson Highlands portion on the AT including fat man squeeze, Thomas Knob Shelter and lots and lots of wild ponies. Guaranteed plenty of wild pony encounters.
