New Years Day Ride that's also a Friday Lunch Ride. Longer first loop followed by lunch at the Elmhurst Family Restaurant (near Lake St and Walnut Ave in Elmhurst), with a short return to the start after eating. In case of poor weather ("If it's snowing, I'm not going") meet at the restaurant at noon for lunch.

This is a joint mtb single-track ride lead by Chuck Gentile and George Pastorino. Pussanee will assist as needed. Single track experience required as this is not a beginner ride. We will hike from Union Station to the Shedd Aquarium, about 2.5 miles. If the weather is very bad, we will take a bus to the museum campus. The forecast for January 28 is cold, so let's move indoors. We will hike on the track at the Downers Grove Recreation and Fitness Center. Parking is south of the facility. Meet in the lobby. The day use charge for the track is $2 for residents of DG and $3 for non-residents. The track has storage cubicles for coats, etc. I suggest you wear shorts and your EBC jersey or other bike jersey, so we can "mark" the track! Jimmy Buffet parrot-head attire is also acceptable. The 11:00 AM start time was chosen because there is low activity at the facility at that time. After our hike, we can gather at Jimmy John's for sandwiches.

State Park vehicle admission stickers and trail passes required and may be purchase onsite
